‘how to cope with and learn from failures’

Debbie is a lovely psychologist who really, makes you feel at ease. She has helped me a great deal with preparing me for competitions and how to cope with and learn from failures. As an athlete herself, Debbie knows first hand the pressures of national and international competitions and how to deal with them which makes her extremely knowledgeable and understanding in our sport psychology sessions. Sport is 90% mental and 10% physical and I would highly recommend Debbie as her mental strategies and techniques are invaluable.

‘how could I work in the industry and be ducking out of my training at the drop of the hat?’

I met Debbie through work and really enjoyed talking to her about the approaches she uses towards sport and exercise psychology, it wasn't long before I realised that I could actually benefit from some sessions with her myself. I'd worked in the fitness industry for 15 years and for the past couple of years had been struggling to train. I was frustrated as I'd never felt like this before and if I'm honest I felt like a fraud - how could I work in the industry and be ducking out of my training at the drop of the hat?

Over the course of 6 weeks Debbie helped me identify what my real barriers to training were (as opposed to what I thought they were) and helped me learn a process of identifying small weekly goals and developing strategies to achieve them. I really enjoyed working with Debbie - she is passionate about helping people, patient and sincere. I've rediscovered my love for training now! It's not to say that I still don't skip the odd session, but when I do it's been a conscious choice that there is a higher priority and I don't beat myself up about it. I've also been able to use these strategies in other areas of my life. Thank you Debbie!
